The general premise of the card game is to be assigned cards totaling up to 21. Each competitor is given two cards. When a player is given a 9 or less and an Ace they have been given a soft hand. When the gambler receives no Ace it is known as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been handed to all players at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, each black jack player is given the opportunity to make 1 of six decisions:

Taking another card (Hit): When a blackjack player announces hit me the croupier will give him another card, if the adding of that card makes the total greater than twenty-one the player will have lost and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the total to 21 the player will be the winner and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet achieved twenty-one they’re still in the game.

Keeping the hand you have been given: If a black jack player is satisfied with the hand they’ll stay. Once this has happened the croupier will show his/her cards and the blackjack player who has gotten 21 or the nearest to twenty one will win.

Doubling Down: A blackjack player may ask to double down which increases the bet by 100% they have made. Once you’ve taken this action you can only receive one additional card. The details of doubling down are often specified by the table or casino rules so prior to gambling make certain you are comfortable with the house rules. If you’re playing at a web casino this is usually quite easy.

Watch for part 2.
